Completed in September 2009, this 4,000 + sq ft Sustainable Home  was built for clients in Ulster Park, NY.  Sustainable homes seek to be an extension of their environment rather than an imposition, or more importantly a drain on it.  They emphasize two broad themes: to be constructed of and furnished with environmentally sound materials and to utilize energy as efficiently as possible.

This home is a Passive/Active Solar design, built with minimal site impact. We used re-claimed lumber and hand-hewn beams from the previous home, as well as Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF’s); Xypex Concrete Waterproofing Products; Low-E Reflective Insulation; Buderus Solar Hot Water System; Paints, Stains and Varnishes free of harmful VOCs and formaldehyde; Cree LED Lights; and Energy Efficient Appliances. This home also has a Rainwater Collection System, as well as Finished Concrete Floors.
